What the lab aims for, and how.

Vision

To find dementia early, with simple blood and EEG tests, and to understand the genes and proteins that cause it.

Mission

  1. Find the gene mutations that cause early-onset dementia in Korean and other Asian patients, and report each new variant with its clinical picture.
  2. Develop blood tests that measure misfolded protein oligomers, such as amyloid-β, TDP-43 and α-synuclein, as early signs of brain disease.
  3. Build quick, low-cost screening for cognitive impairment from resting-state EEG, neuropsychological tests and machine learning.
  4. Test plant compounds and nanomaterials that could protect nerve cells or deliver drugs.
