약물 전달과 생체 영상을 위한 실리카·실리콘·탄소 나노소재를 만들고, 나노기술 규제의 흐름을 연구합니다.
연구실은 바이오나노학과에 속해 있으며, 의료용 나노소재도 연구합니다. 두 가지 자극에 반응해 약물을 방출하고 암세포의 미토콘드리아를 표적할 수 있는 메조다공성 실리카·실리콘 나노운반체, 용매 없이 합성해 생체 영상에 쓰는 형광 탄소 점(carbon dots), 자가포식(autophagy)에 영향을 주는 SiO₂·Fe₃O₄ 나노입자 조합, 그리고 신경모세포종과 신경교종 세포의 CD44를 표적하는 히알루론산 유도체 등을 연구했습니다.
나노기술의 관리 체계도 연구합니다. 2015~2025년 나노입자 규제 연구를 메타분석했고, 코로나19 시기 전후 국내 나노기술 제품 등록과 언론 보도의 추이를 분석했습니다.
